Today on Facebook I came across a photo, shared and “liked” hundreds of times, that said:
“Dear ‘Females:’ I’m fedup. Done. Finished. I always hear stories about girls not being able to trust guys because they cheated, or treated…
Awesome post.
Worth the read, I promise.
As seen on Facebook. (posted by Homestead Survival)
A sweet lesson on patience.
A NYC Taxi driver wrote:
I arrived at the address and honked the horn. After waiting a few minutes I honked again. Since this was going to be my last ride of my shift I thought about just driving away, but instead I put the car in park and walked up to the door and knocked.. ‘Just a minute’, answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor.
After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 90’s stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940’s movie.
By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets.
There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard
box filled with photos and glassware.
‘Would you carry my bag out to the car?’ she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman.
She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb.
She kept thanking me for my kindness. ‘It’s nothing’, I told her.. ‘I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother to be treated.’
‘Oh, you’re such a good boy, she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address and then asked, ‘Could you drive
through downtown?’
‘It’s not the shortest way,’ I answered quickly..
‘Oh, I don’t mind,’ she said. ‘I’m in no hurry. I’m on my way to a hospice.
I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. ‘I don’t have any family left,’ she continued in a soft voice..’The doctor says I don’t have very long.’ I quietly reached over and shut off the meter.
‘What route would you like me to take?’ I asked.
For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator.
We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl.
Sometimes she’d ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing.
As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, ‘I’m tired.Let’s go now’.
We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico.
Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move.
They must have been expecting her.
I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.
‘How much do I owe you?’ She asked, reaching into her purse.
‘Nothing,’ I said
‘You have to make a living,’ she answered.
‘There are other passengers,’ I responded.
Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug.She held onto me tightly.
‘You gave an old woman a little moment of joy,’ she said. ‘Thank you.’
I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning light.. Behind me, a door shut.It was the sound of the closing of a life..
I didn’t pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that day,I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver,or one who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away?
On a quick review, I don’t think that I have done anything more important in my life.
We’re conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments.
But great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

Tumblr
I think people have lost the concept of what tumblr is about. On tumblr, you see “follow me, I follow back” or “the first 10 people to like this…blah blah blah.” Tumblr IS NOT about how many followers you have or about being “tumblr famous,” NOWHERE does it say “gain as many followers as you can.” Tumblr is (well, at least to me) about posting, re-blogging, and writing about WHATEVER you like, WITHOUT being criticized or people automatically saying “you just want the attention” or calling you names and writing hate messages to the person. On tumblr, you have the freedom to do and write what you want and others shouldn’t care or be mean about it. If anything, be nice to the person if they are going through a rough time or need the support. HECK! Send it as anon if you want! ONLY because it’s a nice message. I know, if I were to read that someone is down or need support, I’d try my best to make that person happy and put a smile on their face. This world doesn’t need more hatred, it needs love. Who cares if they want attention? Just let them be. Don’t start sending messages to the person, especially as anon, about how they want attention, are stupid, or ugly. Sending it as anon, says a lot about you IF you’re sending hate messages. “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all.”
Right now, I have 78 followers, I have been on tumblr for a while now, and don’t care if I get followed or un-followed. The point for writing this message is NOT to gain more followers, personally I don’t care if I do or don’t get more. If I get un-followed, GOOD. I’m not on tumblr to get followed or gain as many followers possible, I’m only on it to re-blog, post, and write. If I follow people, I don’t want or expect a follow back. I only followed in the first place because I liked that person’s tumblr.
Go ahead, I dare you to think I want attention or want more followers, because all of that is false. Think what you like about this post. After all, you don’t know me and have just read my intentions for this post and thoughts for what I think tumblr is about. NO, I am not writing this to hurt anyone’s feelings. If you want to send hate messages, don’t. You’re just wasting your time, it’s not going to hurt me. It will only make you look as if you are trying to make yourself look better or feel more superior than me, and pathetic. However, if you do and send it as anon, it only tells me that you dnt have the guts to show your identity and are only trying to put me down.

Famous Physicists as Children
From left to right:
Stephen Hawking (b. 1942) - Most well known for Hawking radiation and theorems involving gravitational singularities. He suffers from ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease - and is one of the most well known scientists of our time.
Neil deGrasse Tyson (b. 1958) - Currently the director of the Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space, Tyson is one of the leading science advocates in the world - and was one of the men who supported the demotion of Pluto.
Carl Sagan (1934-1996) - One of the most successful science popularizers of all time, Sagan was also the bestselling author of Cosmos, one of the most popular science books of all time. He was the first to propose that Jupiter’s moons Titan and Europa may hold liquid components of water on them.
Albert Einstein (1879-1955) - The most well known genius in history, Albert Einstein was a boss. During his career, he revolutionized almost every area of Physics, including quantum mechanics and he effectively founded the study of Cosmology. His theory of general relativity has been wildly successful, despite ‘attacks’ by neutrinos.
Richard Feynman (1918-1988) - His most important contributions came via his path integral formulation of quantum mechanics and development of Quantum Electrodynamics (QED). Plus, he was a total badass.
